Empowered

I read an equation recently that changed the way I think about confidence and change. In this life, walking with Christ means always seeking change, always striving to live in a way that brings glory to him, and to grow his kingdom. It’s an everyday battle, and an everyday choice to pick up the cross and follow him. This requires empowerment for us to face the many challenges this life throws at us. While the challenges may look different for each of us, many times the battles look the same.

Empowerment = being strong willed about what God wills.

It’s so easy for us to feel weak and think that change is too hard for us. To give up because we think we aren’t strong enough, aren’t capable enough, or don’t have it in us to be a real driving force for change in our lives, in our marriage, in our parenting, in our families, in our church, in our community.

Those are lies! We absolutely do have it in us when we walk with Jesus, and he lives in us. 2 Cor 13: 5 | Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you?  It’s so hard for us to remember this when we leave ourselves exposed to these lies from the enemy and“the gap between knowing what we need to do and doing it is where the enemy attacks.” (Beth Moore)

So why does this gap exist? What is keeping us from doing the thing we need to do? Is it the enemy’s lies? It is us believing we don’t have enough x, y or z? If we don’t stop feeding the unhealthy part of us with these lies that we aren’t enough the lies will take over.

Friends, be empowered! Choose to believe the truth that Christ in us is a powerful force for change and for victory!

John 16:33 | I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

  1. EM Bounds said that prayer can do anything God can do – and we forget that. or I do. I need to remember that more. thanks for reminding me to be empowered this week.

  2. Such a helpful reminder that God is in all of us and can empower us.

  3. I’ve been having a tough time with recovering from a miscarriage I had a month ago. The hurt I’ve been feeling has led to an emotional roller coaster for me. Just this morning I was praying for peace and strength. Your post is perfect timing because I needed this great reminder to feel empowered. I still remember your post about peace a couple of weeks ago and I pray for peace often. Thank you for writing these encouraging posts. It is truly appreciated! God bless you!

    • Jennifer, my heart is overflowing that even one word of a post has helped you in your struggle. I had a miscarriage last year, and it has been so helpful for me to turn to the scripture and journal to find healing. You are in my prayers, friend!

  4. Choosing “to believe the truth that Christ in us is a powerful force for change and for victory,” is so important. That’s where laying my will down in exchange for His becomes the issue. Will I believe Him and His word? Or will I continue to walk faithlessly believing the lie that I am too weak even for Christ to empower? Thank-you for speaking truth here… blessings!

    • Thank you Wendy!

  5. I really love your definition of empowered! I had never thought about it that way, but I really appreciate the new perspective.

P.S. Those are some really cute kiddos 🙂

    • Thank you so much! 🙂

  6. I was just thinking about this subject this morning. So many times, we feel powerless or that we’re not really making a mark here on earth. But if anyone of us were taken up today, there would be millions of broken pieces in our wake, because each of us makes more of a difference in someone’s life than we think. And how much more of an impact we could make if only we truly believed in the power of the gifts God has given us and found the courage to bring them to the table more boldly. Thank you for this nugget this morning, like a prayer for me.

    • Thanks Julie, I’m so glad it was beneficial for you!

  7. What a beautiful post and a great reminder to focus on God’s word and His truth! Thanks for sharing!

    • Thanks Jehava! 🙂

  8. I needed this today. I’ve been feeling inadequate in ways that aren’t like me and I’ve been praying that God give me the power (maybe I needed EMpowered).
